In 1981 Edmonton's Wayne Gretzky scored a goal and added four assists as the Oilers ended their team-record 9 game road losing streak with a 6-3 win against the Nordiques, in Quebec City.

In 1983, Edmonton's Pat Hughes set an NHL record for fastest two shorthanded goals (25 seconds) - at 15:18 and 15:43 of the second period in a 7-5 win at St. Louis. Hughes became the first player to break a Gretzky record.

In 1987 Wayne Gretzky picked up an assist to reach the 100 point mark in his 42nd game of the season, as the Oilers beat Calgary 5-3, in Edmonton. With his 100th point Gretzky tied Marcel Dionne's NHL record of eight 100+ point seasons.
