In 1984, Gretzky's point scoring streak reached 51 games in a 3-3 tie with the New Jersey Devils, establishing NHL records for the longest point scoring streak and longest streak from the start of a season. He also established a record for the longest consecutive assist streak. In total, he scored 61 goals and 92 assists in the 51 games for 153 points.
