In 1982, Edmonton's Wayne Gretzky became the first player in NHL history to get 12 career hat tricks before age 21, when he scored 3 times (and added 2 assists) in an 8-6 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues. It was Gretzky's 6th hat trick of the season.
